Den her fra RYM skal altså lige op og vende:
averysgore wrote:Recently a friend brought up Middle of Nowhere and I said, "It's not a bad album. I like it better than OK Computer." Fortunately for me, he gave a "ok, whatever" response and didn't want to argue - it could have been disastrous for me if he had. I thought, why not give it a try?

ALBUM BATTLE: MIDDLE OF NOWHERE v. OK COMPUTER

1. Thinking of You v. Airbag

Thinking of You has a great catchy chorus that's a whole lot more comprehensible than Airbag's. Whoooole tiiimmmee... 1-0

2. MmmBop v. Paranoid Android

OK, OK, I have to go with Paranoid Adenoid here, otherwise I'd *really* piss you all off. 1-1

3. Weird v. Subterranean Homesick Alien

Let's see, ripping your title from Dylan or ripping your opening vamp from "Lady In Red"? Just kidding, both are pretty nice, and "Weird" has a fine bridge. Tie. 1-1

4. Speechless v. Exit Music (for a Film)

No, I absolutely can't resist that eerie Mellotron and bass pedal work on the amazing Exit Music. Too bad, since I like Speechless too (with Taylor's most blatant M. Jackson imitation!). 1-2

5. Where's The Love v. Let Down

Let Down is definitely an emotional highlight for me. I do like the pre-chorus on "Where's the Love" ("you're thinking that it's me you're fooling") but the actual chorus is rote. 1-3

6. Yearbook v. Karma Police

Tie. Blatant Beatles ripoffs are absolutely unacceptable on my watch, but so are godawful dirges about the kid who missed class picture day. Pass these by. 1-3

7. Look At You v. Fitter Happier

Fitter Happier is unsettling enough to earn its place on the album. Look at You isn't much. 1-4

Uh oh. Things aren't looking good for Hanson.

8. Lucy v. Electioneering

Lucy! Some fine easygoing vocals from Zac and lonesome hobo harmonica. 2-4

9. I Will Come To You v. Climbing Up The Walls

Tie. Both are very good, specifically the drumming in the latter and the harmonies in the former. 2-4

10. A Minute Without You v. No Surprises

I always found No Surprises overrated, and anyone could have come up with that main doinky riff. Minute has underappreciated Isaac's vocals, and the chorus has accurate math, so it gets the edge. 3-4

11. Madeleine v. Lucky

Madeleine slaughters Lucky! You know it, don't try and pretend. 4-4

12. With You In Your Dreams v. The Tourist

Remember me, remember me... 5-4

Hanson wins!! Maybe in 1997 I couldn't tell which flower was gonna grow, was it going to be a daisy or a rose,

but Radiohead remains the less impressive daisy.
